School Programs

The Middle School at Arab International Academy implements the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate. This internationally recognized programme is designed to meet the needs of students aged 11 to 15 and focuses on developing learners who are knowledgeable, balanced, and capable of deep and reflective thinking.

The Middle Years Programme provides a comprehensive educational framework that encourages students to develop creative, critical, and reflective thinking skills. It strengthens their ability to connect classroom learning to their daily lives and to the wider world. The programme also places strong emphasis on communication skills, intercultural understanding, and respect for diversity.

The programme is built around key elements that contribute to the development of a comprehensive understanding, including:

  • Approaches to Teaching and Learning
  • Key and Related Concepts
  • Global Contexts

The MYP also emphasizes applied learning outcomes, including community service projects and the Personal Project. These experiences strengthen practical application, encourage meaningful connections to the community, and promote student agency.

Academic Subjects

The programme includes eight main subject groups:

  • Language and Literature: Students study their first language at an advanced level. The Academy offers both Arabic and English within this subject group.
  • Language Acquisition: Students are encouraged to learn at least one additional language to promote intercultural understanding. Arabic and English are offered as additional languages, and French is available as a third language option.
  • Individuals and Societies: Students develop understanding of historical, social, political, and economic concepts through both global and local contexts, including World History and the history of the State of Qatar.
  • Sciences: Students study Integrated Sciences in Grades 6 to 8.
  • Mathematics: The curriculum includes number systems, algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis, providing a strong foundation for advanced study.
  • Arts: Students explore performing and visual arts and are encouraged to express themselves creatively while developing original artistic work.
  • Physical and Health Education: This subject promotes healthy lifestyles, physical awareness, personal responsibility, reflective thinking, and self motivation.
  • Design and Technology: Students learn the design cycle, from identifying and analyzing problems to developing, implementing, and evaluating solutions using appropriate tools and technologies.

Community Project

Students are encouraged to engage meaningfully with their community and develop a deeper understanding of their responsibilities toward others through undertaking a community project in grade 8. Students can work on the project individually or in groups. Through the community project, students address a real community issue and take purposeful action.
